A Newfangled Way To Do Search Engine Optimization

Posted on 04/02/2008

I admit that I'm not an SEO guy and and don't want to be. There are lots of specialists who know the ins and outs of how to get the most Google juice out of your website or blog and it's worth knowing where to go for that kind of help.

Eric Holter and the team at Newfangled Web Factory, located in the shadow of the University of North Carolina, (no kidding...they're right down the road from the campus) have put together a two part series on search engine optimization. The video below is the first of two they've done to help people understand how to do search engine optimization better. You can read more about Newfangled's two-part series on SEO here (part 1) and here (part 2).

How to do SEO

Interesting find. The metaphor of librarian and librarian assistant is helpful, as well as his distinction between library science vs. library lobbyist to discern ethical SEO. Also, his focus on longtail keywords and specific niche markets rather than generic terms which will be nearly impossible to get front page search engine results (SERPs). Certainly jives with your fishing metaphor.

I have created an ebook that deciphers all of the coding and allows for anyone to achieve good results from their seo efforts. You can get real world results almost immediately. I will give away 50 copies of this book! Thanks, Sam www.GeeksGuideToSeo.info

So you know you need to get your website on page one of Google to get more business, but how do you choose an effective SEO company that won't take your money and deliver no results?

Thanks for putting part1 and part2 together,

I liked the video and how it layout the SEO basics in a very easy way for startups out there.
It raise a great points about the deep linking; i like to think of it as this formula

Low Traffic from Deep Pages X 20 pages = Lots of Traffic

Which is what the long tail keywording is all about.

Thanks
